
Nigeria has lost one of its respected political figures, Chief Audu Ogbeh, a former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, who passed away at the age of 78.
His family confirmed his death in a statement on Saturday, revealing that he died peacefully on August 9, 2025.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chief Audu Ogbeh,” the statement read. “He lived a fulfilled life, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community.”
The family noted that the late statesman’s decades-long career was marked by public service and a commitment to the development of Nigeria’s agricultural sector. They expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.
“We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the example he set,” the statement continued, requesting privacy during the mourning period.
Funeral arrangements will be made public at a later date.
