Former AGF Malami Criticizes FG Over Security Lapses After Kebbi State Massacre

Former Attorney General Abubakar Malami has sharply condemned the Federal Government’s handling of security following a brutal attack in the Zuru community of Kebbi State, which he says claimed over 200 lives.

In a video message released from Birnin Kebbi, Malami accused the government of politicizing security issues and failing to protect citizens in the Argungu and Zuru Emirates.

He called for urgent, proactive intervention by security agencies, stating that “a safe local government” is foundational to broader state stability.

“I am deeply troubled that the federal government isn’t doing enough to safeguard lives and property,” Malami declared. “Lives are being lost, rights are being violated, and wealth is being destroyed.”

Malami also drew attention to ongoing threats across the region. He warned that the Lakurawa continue to hold communities in Argungu to ransom, while bandits increasingly terrorize residents of Kyebu and Tadurga in the Zuru Emirate.
