The official draw was conducted on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, which will host all matches of the tournament. This marks Nigeria’s eighth appearance at the global cadet showpiece.
Group D presents a diverse challenge for the Flamingos, facing North American side Canada, European powerhouse France, and Oceania’s Samoa, who are making their first-ever appearance at the tournament.
Elsewhere, Group A features hosts Morocco alongside Brazil, Italy, and Costa Rica. In Group B, defending champions Korea DPR will go up against Mexico, Cameroon, and the Netherlands.
Group C is headlined by the United States, who will face Ecuador, China, and Norway.
Group E includes Spain, Colombia, Korea Republic, and Ivory Coast, while Group F consists of Japan—the tournament’s all-time top scorers with 125 goals—alongside New Zealand, Zambia, and Paraguay.
This year’s edition marks a historic milestone as the first-ever 24-nation tournament in the history of the U-17 Women’s World Cup, and also the first time the event will be held on African soil.
Morocco has been granted the hosting rights for five consecutive editions, starting with this year and continuing annually through 2029.
The tournament will kick off with a high-profile opening match between Morocco and Brazil on October 17.
As with other 24-team formats, the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round-of-16.
