FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the 2026 World Cup final will feature a Super Bowl-style half-time show. The tournament, set to expand to 48 teams, will conclude at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 19.
Infantino shared the news on Instagram, promising “a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world” following the first half of the final. British band Coldplay will work with FIFA to help select performers, though it’s still unclear whether the half-time break will be extended.
In addition, Infantino announced that FIFA will take over Times Square during the final weekend to celebrate both the third-place match and the World Cup final. “These will be two incredible matches… what better way to celebrate them than in historic Times Square,” he stated.
He also expressed gratitude to Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans for assisting in organizing the events and praised Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey for their help in finalizing the artist lineup.
The Super Bowl’s half-time show has become a global spectacle, with past performers including Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and Rihanna, and FIFA aims to replicate that success on the World Cup stage.
