The Federal Government has rolled out a groundbreaking digital platform that empowers Nigerians to report fraudulent practices in housing estates, upload evidence, and monitor the progress of their complaints in real time.
The initiative, announced in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD) on Tuesday, marks a decisive step toward sanitizing the real estate sector and safeguarding citizens from exploitation.
The launch featured live demonstrations by the Ministry’s technical consultants—Messrs Freestone Investments Limited and Messrs Prunedge Development Technologies Limited.
According to the Ministry, fraudulent practices in housing estates will no longer be tolerated, stressing that perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law.
The newly launched Housing Fraud Reporting Portal—accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng—offers Nigerians a safe, user-friendly, and transparent system to report cases of fraud in housing estates nationwide. Through the portal, citizens can submit complaints, upload supporting evidence, and track the handling of their cases.
All reports submitted will be thoroughly reviewed by the Ministry in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including professional associations, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary, ensuring accountability at every stage.
“The Housing Fraud Reporting Portal provides Nigerians with a secure and efficient channel to raise red flags about fraudulent activities in the housing sector. It is a proactive step to protect citizens, restore confidence, and enhance transparency in real estate transactions,” the Ministry stated.
Alongside the fraud portal, the Ministry also introduced the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS)—a digital tool designed to strengthen oversight of housing projects.
The CPCPMS platform allows real-time tracking of project implementation, evaluates contractor performance against key indicators, and serves as a central hub for essential project documentation, including payment certificates and Bills of Quantities.
Together, the two platforms are designed to promote transparency, improve service delivery, and strengthen public confidence in housing and urban development projects across the country.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which calls for stricter regulation of the housing industry, certification of estate developers, and stronger protection for citizens against fraudulent actors.
“The Policy makes clear that Nigeria’s housing sector requires an efficient administrative, legal, and regulatory framework to monitor delivery and ensure that all professionals in the built environment are properly registered. These platforms are an important step toward achieving that vision,” Dangiwa said.
Deputy Director and Head of the Ministry’s ICT Department, Marcus Amiolemen, added that both platforms highlight the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
He further disclosed that the fraud reporting portal was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to guarantee effective tracking, investigation, and follow-up of all reported cases.
With these digital innovations, the Federal Government is reinforcing its pledge to protect citizens, regulate the housing sector more effectively, and deliver sustainable housing development nationwide.
