FG Temporarily Halts Paramilitary Recruitment, Portal to Reopen July 21

The Federal Government has announced a temporary suspension of ongoing recruitment activities into key paramilitary agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

In an official statement dated July 16, 2025, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General A.M. Jibril (rtd), disclosed that the online application portal will resume operations on Monday, July 21, 2025.

“This brief suspension is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and integrity of the recruitment process,” Jibril said. “The temporary pause will allow us to optimize the system’s capacity to manage the overwhelming volume of applications and ensure a seamless and transparent process for all candidates.”

He further emphasized the Board’s commitment to upholding merit, fairness, and transparency throughout the recruitment exercise.

“We are encouraged by the passion and patriotic spirit shown by thousands of young Nigerians eager to serve their nation. This pause will help us create a better user experience and maintain the credibility of the selection process,” he added.

The CDCFIB urged applicants to remain patient and assured the public that the process would continue with improved infrastructure to support the high demand.

This announcement comes amid a surge of applications from across the country as young Nigerians seek career opportunities in national security and emergency services.

Similar adjustments to federal recruitment platforms have been made in previous years to address technical bottlenecks and uphold the integrity of selection procedures.

Applicants are advised to monitor the official CDCFIB recruitment portal and reputable news platforms for further updates.
