FG pegs admission age at 16

The Federal Government has officially set 16 as the minimum entry age for admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Announcing this on Tuesday at the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja, Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, stressed that the policy is non-negotiable.

He also warned that any admission carried out outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be deemed illegal, with perpetrators facing prosecution.

Alausa added that heads of institutions involved in admission fraud would not be spared and would be prosecuted accordingly.
