Federal Government Declares March 31 and April 1 as Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, in recognition of the successful completion of Ramadan.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Wednesday.

In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims, celebrating the end of a month of fasting and spiritual reflection. He urged them to embrace the core values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, stressing the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity as essential in fostering a more harmonious society.

Additionally, the Minister called on all Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to pray for the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation. He emphasized that the joyous occasion should inspire unity and cooperation across all religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Tunji-Ojo also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and with safety in mind, while not forgetting the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, aligning with the true spirit of both Ramadan and Eid.

In closing, the Minister, on behalf of the Federal Government, wished all Muslim faithful a joyous and blessed Eid Mubarak, praying that the season’s blessings would bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
