The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sealed an Access Bank branch and a Total petrol station in Zone 6, Wuse, Abuja, over the non-payment of ground rent spanning 34 years.
According to official records, the property occupied by Access Bank is not directly allocated to the bank but to Rana Tahir Furniture Nigeria Limited. A revocation letter dated March 13, 2025, and signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, stated that the FCT Minister, acting under the powers granted by the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978 (Cap. L5, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004), has revoked all rights, interests, and privileges over Plot No. 2456, located in Wuse I, Cadastral Zone A02, Abuja.
The letter cited the failure to pay ground rent as the basis for the revocation.
The FCTA also sealed the office of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Abuja for similar violations. These closures form part of a wider enforcement drive aimed at recovering outstanding ground rent payments from defaulting property owners throughout the FCT.
Officials noted that numerous reminders and public notices have been issued since 2023, urging all allottees to settle their outstanding ground rent liabilities.
