The FCT administration, under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike with President Tinubu in attendance, officially commissioned the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) that connects Ring Road 1 to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) in Abuja’s Katampe district.
The project also included feeder roads and interchanges to ease traffic and improve vehicular movement through the Maitama–Katampe corridor.
Tinubu praised the infrastructural expansion, calling it important to deliver on his “Renewed Hope Agenda” of transformational governance
He applauded Wike’s team-building style and the peaceful relocation and adequate compensation of residents displaced by the project
The road is expected to alleviate congestion on major arterial corridors, boost real estate potential, and bring relief to commuters.
In attendance were traditional rulers and local community members who expressed satisfaction with the process.
Tinubu underscored the importance of protecting the infrastructure and ensuring it serves its purpose, urging residents not to “grab land” or sabotage government projects
For Abuja commuters, this marks a major milestone in urban mobility and civic development.
