The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 116 suspects during raids on identified black spots across Abuja over drug-related offences.
The spokesperson of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid the capital of criminal activities linked to illicit drugs.
According to her, the crackdown targeted several locations, including Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi.
Recovered exhibits included various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Adeh explained that after careful screening, 89 of the suspects were released, while 27 were charged to court for offences ranging from public nuisance to possession of illegal drugs and substances.
She reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to continue providing timely information that could assist in combating crime across the territory.
