Euracare Multispecialist Hospital has conveyed heartfelt sympathy to Chimamanda Adichie’s family over the passing of their child, assuring the public of a thorough investigation in line with clinical governance standards.
In a statement released by its management, the hospital extended its “deepest condolences” to the family, describing the loss of a child as “beyond words” and pledging continued support during this difficult period.
“The loss of a child is profoundly heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with the family at this time,” the statement read.
While expressing sympathy, Euracare also sought to clarify inaccuracies circulating in some reports about the incident. According to the hospital, the child had been critically ill and was referred to Euracare for specific diagnostic procedures after receiving treatment at two other paediatric centres.
Upon arrival, the hospital said its internationally trained clinical team provided care in accordance with established protocols and internationally accepted medical standards, including the administration of sedation where clinically necessary.
“Our team worked collaboratively with external medical professionals, as recommended by the family, ensuring all required clinical support was provided,” the statement added.
Despite these efforts, the hospital said, the child passed away less than 24 hours after presenting at the facility. “As medical professionals, we share deeply in this loss. Our priority remains compassion, patient safety, and ensuring that the matter is handled responsibly while respecting the family’s privacy”, the hospital concluded.
Euracare emphasized that it has initiated a detailed internal review to examine all aspects of the case, underscoring its commitment to transparency, patient safety and responsible engagement with clinical and regulatory processes.
