Erik ten Hag Appointed Bayer Leverkusen Head Coach Until 2027

German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen has officially confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their new head coach. The Dutch manager has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2027.

“Let’s get started. Erik ten Hag signs with Bayer 04 as our new head coach until 2027,” the club announced in a statement posted Monday on X (formerly Twitter).

Ten Hag, 55, succeeds Xabi Alonso, who led Leverkusen to significant domestic success before stepping down. Following Alonso’s departure, Ten Hag quickly emerged as the leading candidate for the role.

Bayer Leverkusen confirmed that the agreement is a two-year deal, lasting through the end of the 2026/27 season.

During his unveiling, Ten Hag expressed his enthusiasm about joining the club and praised Leverkusen’s reputation and professionalism.

“Bayer Leverkusen is one of the best clubs in Germany and also belongs to the expanded European elite. The club offers excellent conditions, and I was very impressed with the conversations I had with the club’s leadership,” Ten Hag stated.
