As the Premier League enters another critical weekend, managers across various clubs have provided updates on player injuries, with several key players set to miss out due to ongoing fitness issues.
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed that defender Ola Aina will be sidelined for a while after suffering a calf injury. “We did the scan, and he’s going to be out for a while and unavailable. It’s a big blow,” Nuno said in an interview with the Premier League on Friday. “We’ll miss his quality, his talent, and the routines he’s developed with his teammates.” While no exact timeline has been provided, Nuno remained cautiously optimistic. “Calf injuries are always tough, and we’ll have to give him time. We don’t have a precise schedule yet… We’ll reassess him. He’ll definitely miss the Villa game, and he’ll be a doubt for the Everton match. Beyond that, we’ll keep monitoring him, but I’m hopeful we’ll see him back before the end of the season,” he added.
Regarding striker Chris Wood, Nuno noted, “We’re still assessing him day by day. Hopefully, he’ll improve tomorrow and continue progressing.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during the midweek win over Fulham. The club confirmed on Wednesday that he will undergo surgery.
For Newcastle United, manager Eddie Howe revealed that striker Alexander Isak and defender Kieran Trippier are being monitored after picking up minor injuries. Howe also praised winger Harvey Barnes for his recent performances, saying, “Harvey has been eager to play. He brings unique qualities to the team, and he’s a goal threat. I have a lot of trust in him.” Howe also confirmed that Fabian Schär has signed a new contract, stating, “I’m delighted he’s signed. He’s been outstanding for us and an ever-present when fit.”
At Bournemouth, manager Andoni Iraola confirmed that several players, including Julian Araujo, are recovering well defensively and could be available for selection after returning to training. However, there are concerns about midfielder Ryan Christie, who may require surgery due to persistent groin issues. “Ryan’s situation is worrying… his body is telling him it might be time for surgery,” said Iraola. “We’re considering whether it’s best for him to undergo surgery now, recover fully, and be ready for next season.”
Iraola also expressed uncertainty about Justin Kluivert’s involvement, adding, “Justin is struggling… he feels tight, so it’s uncertain whether he’ll be available.”
