In a strategic move to elevate the profile of archery across the country, the President of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED), Abdullahi B. Mohammed, has officially designated Emmanuel Oyeleke as the organization’s Director of Marketing. Oyeleke, a distinguished figure in the sport and the visionary behind Zen Archery, brings a wealth of experience to the role. The appointment was formalized through a letter issued by the federation’s Secretary General, Philip Ayo, as part of a broader administrative restructuring aimed at accelerating the growth of the discipline in Nigeria.
The selection of Oyeleke follows a series of landmark achievements that have placed Nigerian archery on the international map. Notably, Oyeleke served as a spearhead for the nation’s participation in Africa’s inaugural Run Archery Tournament last year. During that historic event, his elite-level performance, alongside teammate Tola Adebayo-Lateef, served as a powerful demonstration of Nigeria’s rising competitive caliber. Oyeleke’s pedigree is further bolstered by his tenure with the national team in 2022 and 2023, where he contributed to medal-winning campaigns at the African Championships held in Pretoria, South Africa, and Nabeul, Tunisia.
“From inception as an Archer, the primary objective has always been to promote the sports in Nigeria and beyond and that’s why we founded Zen Archery Club and created Lagos Zen Archery Arena, the premier Archery Range in the country, so that members of the public can practice the sports ”.
Oyeleke, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Archery Association and coordinates the prestigious Zen Archery Lagos Open International Tournament, views this new federal role as a natural extension of his lifelong mission. Upon accepting the position, he emphasized that his focus remains on transforming archery into a household name within the Nigerian sporting landscape. He advocated for a unified front among the nation’s archery institutions, suggesting that collaborative efforts are the only way to ensure sustainable grassroots development and professional excellence.

The federation’s latest wave of appointments extends beyond marketing, signaling a comprehensive push for organizational reform. Joining Oyeleke in the new leadership tier are Kachollom Enyenihi, who takes over as Director of Women’s Development; Olatayo Olasehinde, appointed as Director of Strategy and ICT; and Akogun Abimbola, who will oversee Grassroot Development. Together, this newly assembled team is tasked with modernizing the federation’s operations and expanding the sport’s reach to every corner of the country.
