Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has reassured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that there is no need for concern regarding the 2026 governorship election, emphasizing his confidence in divine providence.
Speaking on Friday in Ado Ekiti during the May edition of the Evening of Praise and Worship, the governor responded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement that the state’s governorship election would take place on June 20, 2026. He urged party members to remain calm, expressing that his political journey is a divine mission already settled by God.
Describing himself as “God’s project,” Oyebanji said he was unfazed by the election date, adding that he had received over 200 messages from concerned supporters. He stressed that there was no cause for alarm as he believed the outcome was in God’s hands.
“The battle is the Lord’s,” he told attendees. “I will never doubt God’s ability to complete what He has started. I am on assignment, and He who sent me is more than able.”
The governor also praised the APC-led government’s achievements over the past two and a half years, highlighting progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development. He said these milestones were evidence of the administration’s commitment to transforming Ekiti and laid a strong foundation for future growth.
The event was attended by top government officials, including Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, House of Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Abibat Adubiaro, Head of Service Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, Chief of Staff Niyi Adebayo, and the Ekiti State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye.
