Death Toll in Lagos Building Collapse Rises to 5, 15 Rescued 

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that the death toll from the building collapse in the Ojodu-Berger area has risen to five. The three-storey building, located at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, collapsed on Saturday, trapping several occupants. Rescue operations led to the recovery of 15 survivors, who were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be officially determined. However, preliminary investigations suggest structural defects and possible violations of building regulations. The Lagos State government has initiated a thorough probe to ascertain the exact cause and to hold accountable those responsible for any negligence.

Residents have expressed concerns over the increasing incidents of building collapses in the state. They urge the government to enforce stricter building codes and to ensure regular inspections of construction sites. The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has been tasked with intensifying its monitoring activities to prevent future occurrences.
