The High Court of Bayelsa State, sitting in Yenagoa, has issued an order preventing associates of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, from holding a large rally in the state until the motion on notice is heard and decided.
The rally, planned for April 12, 2025, in Yenagoa, the state capital, was the subject of the court’s ruling. Justice I. A. Uzakah granted the ex-parte motion in Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025, filed by the state’s Attorney General, Biriyai Dambo (SAN).
The court order stated: “An interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st and 2nd Defendants, whether by themselves, their agents, associates, representatives, or anyone acting on their behalf, from conducting, convening, coordinating, organizing, participating in, holding, hosting, or facilitating any political assembly, rally, meeting, or gathering within Bayelsa State for the purpose of solidarity or celebrating the 2nd Defendant, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction.”
The case has been adjourned until April 11, 2025, for further hearing.
