Court of Appeal Disqualifies Olusola Ebiseni as Labour Party Candidate for Ondo Governorship Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has disqualified Olusola Ebiseni as the Labour Party candidate for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The unanimous decision was delivered by a three-member panel, led by Justice Adebukola Banjoko, on Wednesday.

Justice Banjoko stated, “The appeal marked CA/ABJ/CV/1172/2024 brought by the Labour Party against Chief Olusola Ebiseni and two others is allowed.” The court also noted that a Certified True Copy of the judgment would be provided to the involved parties for their review.

Previously, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja had ruled in favor of Ebiseni and Ezekiel Awude, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and recognize them as the Labour Party’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the upcoming election. Justice Nwite upheld the validity of the Labour Party’s second primary election, which selected Ebiseni and Awude.

However, the appellate court has now overturned that ruling, leaving the Labour Party without its previously recognized candidates for the election.
