China Urges Israel and Iran to Cease Hostilities and Resume Dialogue

China has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, urging both nations to return to dialogue and pursue a political settlement.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that halting the conflict is essential to prevent further regional instability and align with the international community’s consensus.

These remarks follow a joint statement by 21 countries’ foreign ministers condemning Israel’s airstrikes on Iran and advocating for regional de-escalation, nuclear disarmament, and adherence to international law.

The statement was supported by nations including Türkiye, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Gambia, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, and Mauritania.

Guo also expressed deep concern over Israeli attacks on Iranian state television and called for all parties to take immediate measures to de-escalate tensions and prevent further turmoil.

He reiterated that a ceasefire and a return to dialogue are of paramount urgency, with sustained peace achievable only through consultation and negotiation.

In a separate development, the Chinese Embassy in Tel Aviv advised its citizens to leave Israel “as soon as possible” due to escalating security concerns.

The conflict has intensified since Friday, with Israel launching airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile attacks.

Israeli authorities reported at least 24 fatalities and hundreds of injuries in Iranian missile strikes, while Iran reported over 224 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries from Israeli assaults.

China’s call for de-escalation and dialogue underscores its commitment to regional stability and its role in promoting peaceful resolutions to international conflicts.
