The Chinese Embassy has expressed its support for the Nigerian government’s efforts to combat telecommunications and online fraud involving Chinese nationals and others.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, the Embassy also cautioned Chinese citizens residing in Nigeria to avoid any illegal activities that could lead to trouble with Nigerian authorities.
The statement read in part: “Over the past year, Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to tackle telecommunications fraud, leading to the arrest of numerous suspects, including some Chinese nationals.
Telecommunications and online fraud are global concerns, and curbing such transnational crimes remains a shared challenge for governments around the world.”
