CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso to Lead Nigeria’s Delegation at World Bank & IMF Annual Meetings

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, will spearhead Nigeria’s delegation at the upcoming World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meeting set to begin on Monday, October 13, in Washington DC.

This development was confirmed in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, revealing that Cardoso will serve as the alternate Governor, stepping in for the Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.

Joining Cardoso will be the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete, rounding out Nigeria’s high-level representation at this crucial global economic event.

The Annual Meeting’s agenda, according to the World Bank, includes critical sessions such as the Development Committee Plenary on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meetings on October 17. These gatherings provide a platform for discussion on international development, the global economic outlook, and financial market trends.

The meetings will also feature regional briefings, press conferences, and thematic forums aimed at shaping global financial policies and development strategies.

Nigeria’s participation under Governor Cardoso’s leadership underscores the country’s commitment to engaging with international partners on key economic challenges and opportunities.
