CAF Honors William Troost-Ekong Following Super Eagles Retirement

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has paid tribute to William Troost-Ekong after the defender announced his retirement from international football.

Troost-Ekong took to social media on Thursday to formally end his decade-long career with the Super Eagles.

The 32-year-old centre-back earned 83 caps for Nigeria, representing the three-time African champions in numerous international competitions.

During his illustrious career, Troost-Ekong was named Player of the Tournament at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was also included in the competition’s official team of the tournament.

“Legends remain, in their time and long after it. William Troost-Ekong. It’s been a pleasure, captain,” CAF wrote in a tribute post on X, celebrating the defender’s contributions to Nigerian football.

This recognition underscores Troost-Ekong’s impact both on and off the pitch, highlighting his leadership and enduring legacy in African football.
