CAC Assures Customers of Quick Resolution to Stamp Duty Payment Issues

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has reassured its customers that the ongoing difficulties in making stamp duty payments through its online portal will soon be resolved, with engineers currently working on a permanent solution.

In a statement released via its official X handle on Friday, the commission explained that the issues arose following the deployment of its newly upgraded portal, which is more advanced than the systems currently used by its partner agencies. The CAC emphasized that this upgrade is part of its broader digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing the speed, efficiency, and overall user experience of its services.

“We are aware of the difficulties some of our valued customers are facing in making stamp duties payments through our portal. Please be assured that this matter is receiving the urgent attention of engineers from both agencies involved, and a permanent solution is almost in place,” the commission stated.

The CAC urged stakeholders to remain patient, assuring them that the temporary challenges would lead to a much smoother and more efficient service once the transition to the new system is fully completed.

The statement also revealed that the filing of annual returns will be the first feature rolled out under the upgraded system, with the commission optimistic that it will be available to customers as early as the coming weekend. Additionally, a newly simplified, AI-driven Post-Incorporation system for Business Names, including the filing of Annual Returns, is in the works, aiming to further streamline business processes for small and medium-scale enterprises.

“We are finalising a newly simplified, AI-driven Post-Incorporation system for Business Names including the filing of Annual Returns. The annual returns feature will be the first to go live, hopefully this coming weekend, for your convenience,” the statement added.

While the commission acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the glitches, it expressed appreciation for its customers’ patience and support during the transition period.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and support as we work to serve you better,” the CAC concluded.
