Meetings to focus on MAPS framework, feedback, and development of Nigeria’s national procurement strategy…

The Bureau of Public Procurement has announced plans to hold consultative meetings with contractors and key stakeholders in Kano and Lagos later this month, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s public procurement processes.

In a statement on Friday, Zira Zakka Nagga, Head of Press and Public Relations at the BPP, confirmed that the Kano session is scheduled for February 17, while the Lagos meeting will take place on February 26.

The engagements will center on the Methodology for Assessing Procurement Systems (MAPS) framework and its significance in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement.

The BPP said the consultations are designed to foster open dialogue among contractors, consultants, service providers, and civil society organisations, allowing stakeholders to provide feedback and contribute to the development of a comprehensive national procurement strategy.

“The meetings are designed to align Nigeria’s procurement reform agenda with the role of every stakeholder in its successful implementation,” the bureau noted.

Participants are expected to include representatives from government institutions, private-sector operators, professional bodies, civil society organisations, and development partners involved in procurement oversight, advocacy, and service delivery.

By directly engaging key stakeholders, the BPP aims to ensure that Nigeria’s procurement reforms are inclusive, practical, and aligned with international best practices.
