At Least 24 Displaced People Killed in RSF Drone Attack in North Kordofan
At least 24 displaced civilians, including eight children, were killed in a drone attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday in central Sudan, the Sudan Doctors Network reported.
The attack struck a vehicle carrying families fleeing fighting in the Dubeiker area, near the city of Rahad in North Kordofan province. Among the children killed were two infants, the medical monitoring group said in a statement on X.
The incident follows a series of drone attacks on humanitarian convoys and fuel trucks across North Kordofan. On Friday, at least one person was killed and several others injured when RSF drones targeted aid vehicles, including those linked to the World Food Programme (WFP).
The North Kordofan state government condemned the attacks on Friday, calling on the international community and United Nations agencies to impose sanctions on the leadership of the RSF paramilitary group.
The recent attacks occurred along a key road connecting the state capital, El-Obeid, with Kosti in neighbouring White Nile state.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the first drone strike at dawn hit three trucks in Er-Rahad. A second attack followed in the Allah Kareem area near Es Samih, damaging four vehicles, including trucks carrying UN relief supplies.
Fighting between the RSF and government-aligned Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has escalated across the Kordofan region since October 2025, after the RSF captured El-Fasher. The United Nations described the group’s actions in the city as a “crime scene,” noting widespread atrocities.
