Arsenal Unlikely to Trigger Eze’s £68m Clause as Deadline Looms

Arsenal have yet to submit a formal bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, with the deadline to activate his £68 million release clause set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 1.

According to talkSPORT, the Gunners are fully aware of the expiring clause but have already communicated to Palace that they do not intend to trigger it.

Eze’s release clause consists of a £60 million fixed fee, with performance-based add-ons making up the remainder. However, Arsenal are said to value the 27-year-old below that figure and are open to negotiating a lower price with their London rivals.

It is understood that Eze is open to making the switch to the Emirates Stadium, and personal terms are not expected to pose any hurdles.

While manager Mikel Arteta views Eze primarily as a No.10, the former QPR star’s ability to operate on the left flank adds to his appeal as a versatile attacking option.
