Arokodare Snubbed for Belgian POTY Despite Top Scorer, Ebony Boot Honors

Genk striker Tolu Arokodare has missed out on the coveted Player of the Season award in the Belgian Pro League, despite finishing the 2024/25 campaign as the league’s top scorer.
Arokodare garnered 24.20% of the votes from coaches and fellow players, placing third in the final standings. The award ultimately went to Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari, who secured 32.33% of the vote, with his teammate Hans Vanaken finishing second with 27.79%.
Although overlooked for the top individual prize, Arokodare was still recognized for his impressive performances. He claimed both the Top Scorer award and the prestigious Ebony Boot, which honors the best African player in the Belgian top flight.
Despite a strong run during the regular season, Arokodare’s club, Genk, fell short of clinching the league title.
