APC Leaders Endorse NIWA Boss Bola Oyebamiji for 2026 Osun Governorship Race

Former Speaker Wale Afolabi and top stakeholders rally behind Oyebamiji, calling him the party’s most sellable aspirant.

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has received a major boost in his bid for the Osun State governorship seat as prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state declared their support for his candidacy.

During a tour of Boluwaduro and Ifelodun Local Government Areas on Monday, Oyebamiji was warmly received by hundreds of party members and leaders, including pioneer Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and former Attorney General, Rt Hon. Wale Afolabi.

Describing Oyebamiji as the “most sellable” aspirant in the party, Afolabi said the massive turnout of supporters was a clear indication that APC members are fully aligned behind the NIWA boss.

“These are not just voters — these are committed APC members who came out in large numbers to welcome Oyebamiji,” Afolabi said. “If we can mobilize this crowd in such a short time, it tells us that victory is not just possible — it is certain. We are confident he will win the primaries without rancour.”

In his remarks, Oyebamiji thanked party stakeholders for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to running an inclusive, issues-based campaign.

“This warm reception gives me hope. It shows that our party members believe in our mission. I promise that if given the opportunity to lead, we will deliver on every promise, with God on our side,” he said. He also urged other aspirants and party members to maintain unity, emphasizing that it is a “friendly contest.”

Other key figures who declared support include Hon. Femi Popoola, member representing Boluwaduro State Constituency, who praised Oyebamiji’s leadership qualities and wide appeal.

“If the primary were held here 1,000 times, Oyebamiji would win all 1,000 times,” Popoola said, describing him as the best bet for the party’s return to power.

Former Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Sunday Akere, along with other APC leaders in Ifelodun LGA such as Hon. Moshood Oluawo and Hon. Kayode Oduoye, also expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s ability to unify the party and secure victory in 2026.

With mounting endorsements from grassroots and influential leaders, Bola Oyebamiji appears to be consolidating his position as a frontrunner in the race for the APC governorship ticket in Osun State.
