APC Confirms Ganduje’s Resignation as National Chairman

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has confirmed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a statement issued Friday night, Morka stated that Ganduje’s resignation, submitted to allow him to attend to urgent and important personal matters, takes immediate effect. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the resignation letter, submitted earlier on Friday, was addressed to the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.

Ganduje, a former two-term governor of Kano State, expressed gratitude in the letter to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the party at its highest level.

Morka further announced that the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori, has been directed to assume the role of acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled for December. He said this move is intended to ensure continuity in the party’s leadership following Ganduje’s departure.

Ganduje assumed office as APC National Chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu.

“Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, advancing its democratic ideals, and improving its electoral competitiveness,” Morka said.

“The confidence placed in him by the party’s NEC and National Caucus meetings in February 2025 was a profound recognition of his service.

“He leaves his position as National Chairman with great pride in our collective achievements, including successful defections from opposition parties and judicial affirmations of our party leadership’s legitimacy.”

Morka assured party members and supporters that the APC remains resolute in its mission to deliver transformative governance in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also expressed appreciation to Ganduje for his “invaluable contributions and distinguished record of service to the party.”
