Alleged Rape Case: TikToker, Mirabel, Released to Ministry as Police Continue Investigation

Following her voluntary appearance before the authorities, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok influencer, Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, has been transferred to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in connection with her widely publicised rape allegation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday via X, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said she reported to the police of her own accord, underwent a comprehensive medical examination, and has been fully cooperating with investigators.

He added that, in consideration of her welfare and support needs, she was handed over to the Ministry, which has assumed responsibility for her care and pledged to make her available whenever required as investigations continue.

The police stressed that the case is being handled with professionalism, sensitivity and thoroughness, urging members of the public to avoid speculation and allow the process to run its course in line with due process and the rule of law.

The matter first attracted widespread attention in mid-February after Mirabel posted emotional videos on TikTok alleging a home invasion and sexual assault at her residence in Ogijo, Ogun State. The posts sparked public reactions and support.

However, the claims later faced scrutiny over reported inconsistencies, including questions about supporting evidence. No arrests have been announced as investigations continue.
