The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has officially named the road leading to the Dangote Refinery in Lagos State after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Dangote made the announcement on Thursday during the launch of the reconstruction of the Deep Sea Port Access Road, a key infrastructure project in Lagos.
Expressing relief over the improvement in fuel availability nationwide, Dangote praised the fact that most petrol stations, which were previously non-functional, have now resumed operations. He confidently assured Nigerians that petrol queues would become a thing of the past.
“The majority of fuel stations that were not working, they are now back to work; there is no more shortage, no more queues, and there will never be,” he stated.
Dangote also addressed perceptions around fuel prices, arguing that petrol in Nigeria is comparatively affordable. He noted that a litre of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sells for much higher prices in neighboring West African countries.
“Some people here in Nigeria might think that petrol at less than ₦900 is expensive, but there is nowhere in West Africa where petrol sells for less than $1 that’s about ₦1,600,” he explained.
Currently, petrol prices in Nigeria range between ₦800 and over ₦1,000 per litre, making it relatively cheaper than many of its neighbors.
