Chairman of Air Peace Group, Allen Onyema, has pledged to repatriate underage Nigerian girls recently trafficked to the Ivory Coast entirely free of charge.
In a statement posted on the airline’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Onyema expressed outrage over the trafficking of young Nigerian girls, describing the act as “inhumane, ungodly, and a disturbing reflection of man’s inhumanity to man.”
“We should discourage trafficking of any kind,” Onyema said. “It is inhumane and callous. It is ungodly… We, in Air Peace, are ready to bring our fellow citizens back home free of charge.”
Beyond just evacuation, Onyema announced that the girls would be offered free medical checkups and treatment at Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, upon their return.
He also called on the Nigerian Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire to facilitate the identification and gathering of the victims so Air Peace can begin the repatriation process. Additionally, he urged the Federal Government to take responsibility for the girls’ education and support efforts to reunite them with their families.
The development comes in the wake of growing concerns over human trafficking networks exploiting vulnerable Nigerians, particularly young girls, across West Africa.
