Adekunle Gold Makes History as First Artist to Sell Out Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture

Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has set a new benchmark in Nigerian music by becoming the first artist to sell out the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts in Lagos, formerly known as the National Theatre.

The historic achievement occurred on December 26, 2025, during a star-studded concert that featured performances from Olamide, Yinka Ayefele, and Adewale Ayuba. The 3,560-capacity venue was filled to the brim, marking a milestone for both the singer and the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In recognition of the feat, Adekunle Gold was presented with two plaques on January 1, 2026, celebrating his accomplishment and the efforts of his management and record label in organising the event.

Sharing his excitement on Instagram, the singer thanked fans for their support and hinted at upcoming international shows: “Thank you all for a great end to 2025. North America is up next. Where should I bring the Fuji experience to?”

The concert underscores Adekunle Gold’s growing influence in Afrobeats and his ability to draw massive crowds, both locally and globally, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s top performing artists.
