Easter: FRSC Warns Against Reckless Driving, Deploys Patrol Teams Across Lagos

The FRSC Lagos Sector Command has deployed officers and emergency response units to ensure safe travel during Easter, urging motorists to obey traffic laws and avoid reckless driving.

As part of intensified efforts to ensure road safety during the 2025 Easter celebrations, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has rolled out a comprehensive strategy involving deployment of officers, emergency units, and newly acquired patrol vehicles across the state.

During a media briefing along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, affirmed the command’s readiness to maintain a crash-free holiday period. According to a statement issued Friday by the Sector’s Public Education Officer, Elizabeth Jayeola, the operation is already in full swing.

“Regular and Special Marshals have been strategically stationed across highways, inner-city roads, and key festive corridors to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and protect all road users during the Easter period,” Hamzat said.

To bolster emergency response, the FRSC has also deployed ambulances along critical routes for rapid intervention in the event of road crashes or medical emergencies.

“We are working hand-in-hand with other traffic and emergency agencies to guarantee seamless entry and exit within Lagos throughout the festive period,” he added.

The commander also revealed that mobile courts will be operational to immediately prosecute high-risk traffic offenders caught in violation of safety laws.

“Offences such as drunk driving, excessive speeding, use of expired tyres, failure to use seat belts, and mobile phone use while driving will be strictly addressed through mobile court sessions,” he noted.

Issuing a firm appeal to motorists, Hamzat emphasized the dangers of reckless behavior behind the wheel, especially during festive seasons.

“A single night of excitement should not lead to a lifetime of regret. Avoid alcohol or drug use before driving. Check your vehicle condition—especially your wipers—and drive with caution. Your family is counting on your safe return,” he urged.

In addition to drivers, the FRSC also called on pedestrians and vulnerable road users to exercise caution, avoid dangerous crossings, and remain vigilant in traffic environments.

“FRSC Lagos is fully committed to ensuring a safe and crash-free Easter celebration. We encourage everyone to do their part in making our roads safer,” the statement concluded.
