NNPP Chieftain Refutes Defection Claims, Criticizes APC Leadership
A prominent member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Engr. Buba Galadima, has questioned the political influence of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Galadima, Ganduje owes his political position solely to President Bola Tinubu and has no independent political clout.

Galadima made the remarks during an interview with The Guardian, responding to reports suggesting that Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, was preparing to return to the APC.
“I am hearing this from you. So, if we are going to APC, Nigerians will hear this from Ganduje? Even because of him, nobody would like to go to APC,” Galadima said.
He went on to question Ganduje’s credibility as a party leader:
“It is only Tinubu that can make a Ganduje chairman of a party. How can Ganduje be chairman of anything?”
APC Accused of Spreading Falsehoods
Galadima accused the APC of using the NNPP and Kwankwaso’s name to stay in the public eye, suggesting that the ruling party is struggling with internal confusion and is resorting to misinformation.
“They are the people who are keeping us in the press because they are confused. Everything is going asunder across the country,” he said.
He also pointed to the use of social media and propaganda to target the NNPP:
“These are the same people that use social media and propaganda to denigrate us in NNPP. If they are not claiming that Kwankwaso is working for President Tinubu, they will gossip that Kwankwaso is going to France to lobby Mr. President.”
Firm Denial of APC Defection Rumors
Dismissing any plans of defection, Galadima said:
“There is nothing like that. I can tell you as a matter of fact.”
He criticized the APC’s focus on future elections while still in office, calling it a mark of failed leadership.
“Only political failures talk about the next election in the middle of their terms,” Galadima said, adding that the NNPP remains committed to “responsible and responsive governance.”
His comments followed statements made by Ganduje at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where the chairman claimed that Kwankwaso was expected to rejoin the ruling party, citing the alleged collapse of the NNPP after the 2023 elections.
