Blackburn Boss Confirms Emmanuel Dennis Set for Return Next Week

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis is expected to return to action next week, according to Blackburn Rovers manager Valerien Ismael.

Dennis, on loan from Nottingham Forest, has missed the club’s last two Championship matches — against Portsmouth and Middlesbrough — due to injury. However, he’s set to rejoin the squad alongside Callum Brittain and Augustus Kargbo in what would be a significant boost for Rovers’ attacking depth.

“This week won’t be possible for some who are injured, but we’re hopeful that they will be back next week to give us more options and a different profile,” Ismael revealed during his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Blackburn boss also confirmed there were no new injury concerns following their weekend fixture.

“We’ve not lost anyone from the game against Middlesbrough, which is good news. All the players have recovered from that game and give us the possibility of making changes,” he added.

Dennis, 27, had shown glimpses of promise before the setback — notably registering an assist in Blackburn’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City at Ewood Park.

After an impressive debut Premier League season at Watford, where he scored 10 goals and added six assists, Dennis earned a move to Nottingham Forest. But a lack of consistent game time prompted his loan switch to Blackburn in search of regular minutes.

His impending return could prove crucial — not just for Rovers’ promotion hopes — but also for Dennis’ personal ambitions, with Nigeria’s Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in London looming this summer.
