Trump unveils first $5m ‘gold card’ visa

US President Donald Trump has introduced the first “gold card” residency permit on Thursday aboard Air Force One, a special visa priced at $5 million each.
Holding up a prototype that featured his face and the inscription “The Trump Card,” Trump told reporters that the visa would likely be available “in less than two weeks.” “I’m the first buyer,” he added, calling the new initiative “pretty exciting.”
Trump previously stated that the sales of this high-priced visa, a premium version of the traditional green card, would attract job creators and help reduce the US national deficit. As a billionaire former real estate mogul, who has made deportation of millions of undocumented migrants a cornerstone of his second-term agenda, he emphasized that the card could eventually serve as a path to coveted US citizenship.
In February, Trump revealed that his administration aimed to sell “maybe a million” of the cards and did not rule out the possibility of Russian oligarchs being eligible for the new residency permit.
