Trump reaffirms U.S. support for NATO

The United States remains a steadfast member of NATO, with President Donald Trump reaffirming his support for the alliance. On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the nation’s continued active participation in NATO during a joint appearance with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, ahead of the NATO Foreign Affairs Ministerial meeting.
Rubio stated, “The U.S. is in NATO, the United States is active as we speak right now, and the U.S. is as active in NATO as it has ever been. President Trump made it clear in his support of NATO, ‘We are going to remain in NATO.’” His comments came amid ongoing discussions about NATO’s role in addressing global security challenges and the alliance’s future strategic direction.
Stoltenberg also reiterated NATO’s unity, highlighting the importance of transatlantic cooperation. “NATO remains the cornerstone of collective security for North America and Europe. We are stronger together, and we will continue to adapt to meet new security challenges,” Stoltenberg stated. He also emphasized the alliance’s commitment to defending its members against emerging threats, particularly in light of growing concerns about cybersecurity, Russian aggression, and instability in various regions.
The remarks come as NATO countries face heightened pressure to modernize and reinforce their security framework in response to evolving global threats. President Trump has previously voiced strong support for NATO, while also advocating for member nations to increase defense spending to meet the alliance’s collective defense goals.
With tensions between NATO and Russia remaining high, NATO’s strategic importance continues to be a key topic at the Foreign Affairs Ministerial meeting, where members will discuss defense initiatives, counterterrorism measures, and the alliance’s role in global peacekeeping efforts.
These gathering underscores the U.S.’s ongoing commitment to NATO and the importance of transatlantic partnerships in ensuring global security and stability.
