Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to Visit Kogi Central Despite Rally Ban

In a show of unwavering commitment to her constituents, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, firmly reaffirmed her plans to visit her home district during the upcoming Sallah break.

Despite swirling rumors that suggested she had canceled her visit, Akpoti-Uduaghan issued a clear statement on Tuesday morning, assuring her supporters that her scheduled visit would proceed as planned.

The senator’s media team, in an early-morning release, made it clear that there had been no official announcement from her office regarding any changes to the visit. “We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central Senatorial District will proceed as planned. Despite the speculations circulating online, no cancellation has been made,” the statement said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized her duty as a public servant and her deep connection with the people of Kogi Central. She called on her supporters to disregard the rumors and to come out in large numbers to join her in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr. “As the senator representing Kogi Central, I am dedicated to engaging with my community and fostering unity and cooperation,” the statement continued. “My commitment to the people of Kogi Central remains unwavering, and I eagerly look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with all of you.”

The senator also assured the public that all necessary arrangements were in place to ensure the event would be a success, encouraging everyone to join in the festivities. “We invite all members of the community to come together and mark this special occasion with us,” she added.

The announcement came just hours after the Kogi State Government imposed a ban on rallies and public gatherings in light of recent security concerns. This move followed reports of violence in Kogi West, including incidents in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, which had tragically resulted in two fatalities.

In a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, the government outlined the decision as a precautionary measure to prevent potential disruptions.

Fanwo further revealed that intelligence reports indicated that some individuals were planning to stage violent rallies disguised as political and religious protests in Kogi Central.

Despite the state’s security measures, Akpoti-Uduaghan remains steadfast in her resolve to connect with her constituents and bring them together for Eid celebrations, reaffirming her role as a dedicated leader and a unifying force in Kogi Central.

As the community looks forward to her visit, all eyes will be on how the senator navigates the delicate balance between security concerns and her commitment to her people.
