President Tinubu Unmoved by Opposition Coalition – Bayo Onanuga

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu Bayo Onanuga, has firmly stated that his principal will not be distracted by the formation of a coalition of opposition politicians.

This comes after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s announcement that he and other political figures are planning to form a coalition aimed at removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the 2027 elections.

Atiku made the comments on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja, where he and other key opposition leaders, including former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai, former Imo Governor Emeka Ihedioha, ex-APC National Working Committee (NWC) member Salihu Lukman, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, addressed the state of emergency declared by President Tinubu in Rivers State.

In response to this political development, Onanuga released a statement on Thursday, asserting that President Tinubu remains focused on his mission to build a prosperous Nigeria. With just two months to his midterm, Onanuga emphasized that the president has made significant strides in addressing critical issues facing the country.

“President Tinubu is unshaken by the so-called coalition of politicians. They are not politicians who prioritize the Public Good but are driven by personal interests,” Onanuga wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “They are disgruntled, frustrated, sore losers, and the coalition is simply an amalgamation of Tinubu critics who are determined to halt his progress.”

The political tensions have intensified, particularly in Rivers State, where a fierce rivalry between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been brewing. On Tuesday, President Tinubu appointed retired naval chief Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator for Rivers State, a move that has drawn widespread criticism from various prominent individuals and groups, many of whom have called for its reversal.

Despite the uproar, Onanuga’s statement indicates that the president is resolute in his commitment to his governance agenda, undeterred by opposition efforts.
