Prince William recently revealed that he’s so superstitious about his beloved Aston Villa that he often moves his children around the house in hopes of changing the team’s luck.
The 42-year-old, who is the eldest son of King Charles III, admitted that while he doesn’t indulge in the pre-match pint when he’s home alone with his kids, he follows a set of quirky rituals. “If we’re not doing well, I start moving around the house quickly, shifting the children to different spots, hoping it will change our fortune,” he shared with The Sun.
The royal was at Villa Park on Wednesday, where he witnessed Unai Emery’s team qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge, securing a 6-1 aggregate win.
William explained that his love for the Birmingham-based club began when family friends took him to matches as a child. He described the experience: “The camaraderie among the fans, the chanting, and the singing made me feel like I truly belonged.”
As technology evolved, so did his passion for the team. “The rise of the smartphone” made him even more engaged, he said. “I grew up relying on Ceefax on TV or the back pages of newspapers to stay updated, but without those, you felt out of the loop.”
Now, he’s hooked on online football forums, spending hours listening to fellow fans and sharing his own opinions. “I get really into it. I think it’s important to have those debates and hear what other supporters have to say.”
