Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year was the reason he took a break from music.
The singer disclosed this on Friday while responding to a fan on X who speculated that he had been away because he was working on a new album.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that preparations for a new project might have kept the singer busy and prompted his temporary absence from the music scene.
Kizz Daniel, however, clarified that his break had nothing to do with recording a new album.
“I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year,” he wrote.
The singer’s comments offer insight into his reduced musical activity in 2026 as he continues to deal with the loss.
Kizz Daniel had previously spoken about bereavement within his family. In 2025, he disclosed that his wife had also lost her mother in 2024.
Despite his absence earlier in the year, the singer said he is now focused on moving forward and supporting the rest of his family.
