Ukraine Gets 252 Bodies in Latest Exchange With Russia
Ukraine has received the remains of 252 people in the latest exchange of war dead with Russia, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Russia, in return, received the bodies of 23 people, Russian lawmaker Shamsail Saraliev said, according to the RBK news outlet.
The exchange is part of limited humanitarian cooperation that has continued between the two countries despite the ongoing conflict.
Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said the repatriated remains would undergo the necessary forensic examinations and identification procedures before being handed over to their families.
The latest transfer underscores one of the few areas in which Kyiv and Moscow have maintained communication, alongside periodic exchanges of prisoners of war, despite the continuing hostilities.
