Barcelona surged to the top of LaLiga on Sunday, opening a three-point advantage over Real Madrid after a dominant 5-0 win against Valencia.
Lamine Yamal put Barcelona ahead in the sixth minute, turning Fermin Lopez’s assist into a composed finish from a difficult angle. Yamal appeared to have doubled the advantage soon after, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Fermin extended Barcelona’s lead in the 22nd minute, finding the bottom corner with a powerful strike following a pass from Anthony Gordon. The Catalan side remained in control and created further opportunities before halftime.
Barcelona struck again four minutes after the restart, with Fermin breaking through the Valencia defence before teeing up Raphinha for an easy finish.
Pedri added a fourth in the 79th minute, converting after being picked out by Dani Olmo, before Yamal completed the rout five minutes later with his second goal after another assist from Olmo.
The result gives Barcelona a perfect 12 points from four matches, three ahead of second-placed Real Madrid. The champions have also registered 17 goals in their opening four league games.
