The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has stepped up efforts to improve accommodation and welfare conditions for police officers and their families.
Disu inspected 23 police residential facilities, assessing the condition of barracks, housing units and other welfare infrastructure while engaging officers and residents on the challenges affecting their living conditions.
The inspection is expected to help the Nigeria Police Force identify critical infrastructure gaps and prioritise repairs, rehabilitation and other welfare interventions, particularly in facilities where deteriorating conditions could undermine the morale and wellbeing of personnel.
The exercise forms part of a broader push by the police leadership to address longstanding accommodation challenges and strengthen investment in facilities supporting officers and their families.
The Force says improving living conditions remains an important part of building a motivated and effective police service, capable of carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
The latest intervention also highlights the link between personnel welfare and operational effectiveness, as the police seek to improve working and living conditions for officers across the country.
