Former Besiktas star urges Galatasaray to protect Osimhen

Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has urged Galatasaray to handle Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen with utmost care, describing the forward as a precious asset.

Osimhen has made a blistering start to the campaign, scoring six goals and registering two assists in just four appearances.

However, his fitness has become a concern ahead of Galatasaray’s Champions League clash with Sporting CP after he was substituted in the first half of Friday’s 3-2 win over Basaksehir FK.

The Nigerian is suspected to have suffered a groin problem after signalling that he could not continue.

Engin warned that Galatasaray’s management of Osimhen could have a major impact on his performances as the season progresses.

Speaking on the Asist Analiz YouTube channel via Haber Sari Kirmizi, he said, “Galatasaray without Osimhen is akin to a vehicle running on gas!

“It’s comparable to installing a gas conversion kit on a brand-new car for fuel economy! You would tell the driver, ‘You purchased this car, and now you’re worried about fuel costs?’

“It’s a similar situation. His performance will decline. Galatasaray must treat Osimhen as if he were a precious gem.”

Osimhen is expected to undergo an MRI before Galatasaray travel to Portugal on Wednesday, with the scan set to determine the severity of his injury.
