The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says its investigation into the N12 billion Federal Government intervention fund released to the Nigeria Football Federation is still ongoing.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed this on Thursday, amid the latest leadership shake-up at the football federation.
“Investigation is ongoing on the matter,” Oyewale said.
The intervention package was approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to settle outstanding wages and bonuses owed to players representing Nigeria’s national teams.
Several officials connected to the funds are understood to have appeared before the anti-graft agency for questioning as part of the investigation.
The development comes as NFF President Ibrahim Gusau announced his resignation on Thursday, alongside some members of the federation’s board.
Gusau spent three years and 11 months leading the federation and had been preparing to seek another term at the September election.
His resignation now comes as the financial probe continues and the NFF faces a major leadership transition.
