Nigeria’s Falconets began their preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Poland in a friendly on Friday.
The decisive moment came shortly before the interval, when Mary Mamud found the back of the net in first-half stoppage time.
Poland pushed for an equaliser after the break, while Nigeria also created opportunities to extend their lead. However, neither side could convert their chances as the match ended 1-0.
The result gives Moses Aduku’s team another boost as preparations continue for the global tournament.
The Falconets will next face Korea Republic in another friendly on Tuesday, September 1, at the Remes Resort & Spa Football Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm local time.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group F alongside Spain, China and tournament debutants New Caledonia.
The Falconets will open their World Cup campaign against Spain on Monday, September 7.
