UEFA sets September 2 deadline for Champions League squad lists

Clubs competing in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League have until September 2 to submit their List A squads for the league phase, with a maximum of 25 players permitted.

UEFA said the lists must be verified and validated by the respective national associations by 23:59 CET on the deadline day. Clubs must also meet the required quota for locally trained players.

“Clubs are entitled to register a maximum of 25 players on List A during the season, of whom at least two must be goalkeepers.

“As a minimum, eight of those 25 places are reserved exclusively for ‘locally trained players’, and no club may have more than four ‘association-trained players’ listed among those eight places,” UEFA said.

The maximum squad size will be reduced for any club unable to meet the minimum requirement of eight locally trained players, the governing body added.
